Website Design Tips for Better Conversions

Design:
Simplicity is Key.

  • Keep your website design clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate.
  • Keep things in familiar places: Logo, navigation, social icons, contact information.
  • Avoid clutter and excessive text. If you have a lot of text, break it up so it’s easy to read.
  • Make sure there’s enough white space.
  • Be consistent with fonts, colors, spacing and design elements.
  • The font size of basic text should be at least 16-18px.
  • Make sure you have enough contrast between text and background colors, especially on call to actions.
  • Include high resolution images of your business (depends on the industry but for example: your store front, products, staff, branded vehicles, etc.).

Mobile Optimization:

  • Make sure your website is fully responsive across various devices and screen sizes.
  • Your phone number should be click to call.
  • Your address should link to Google Maps.

Keep important items above the fold:
Today’s users have a very short attention span so your website needs to make a good first impression as fast as possible.

  • A brief statement that makes it easy to understand what you do
  • At least one selling point – why should someone do business with you?
  • Call to Action – prompts the user to take action (contact you, learn more, make a purchase, sign up, etc.)
  • Contact Information

Other important items to have on your home page:

  • A paragraph or two about your company and what services or products you offer
  • Testimonials
  • Short descriptions of your specific products or services that link to another page with more detail
  • A map that shows your location or service area
  • Badges of trust (Chamber of Commerce, BBB, Awards you’ve won, etc.)
  • Additional images of your business (not stock images) always help build trust and credibility
  • Call to actions throughout the page that entice the user to take action (learn more, request a free quote, schedule an appointment, etc.)
  • Social Media links

Search Engine Optimization (SEO):
Make sure your users can find you when searching for your services or products.

  • Focus on keywords your users would use to search for your business. Make sure they are in your website heading tags, throughout the content and in image alt tags.
  • Make sure your meta title and description are set up with keywords and also written to grab the users attention (this shows up in Google search results).
  • Get your business listed on as many different directories as possible: Google, Yelp, Bing, etc. Make sure your name, address and phone number are all consistent and include a link to your website.

By implementing these marketing tips, you can enhance your online presence, attract more customers, and ultimately drive success in today’s competitive market. Your website is often the first impression customers have of your business, so make it count!
